I have <spanclass="b">graduated in 2001 from <spanclass="i">Táncsics Mihály Szakközépiskola, Szakiskola és Kollégium, an architecture high school based in Veszprém, Hungary. There, I learned about <spanclass="b">electricity and elevators, while getting my feet wet in the area of IT systems engineering. Together with some teachers, we developed <spanclass="b keyword"title="network building">the IT infrastructure of the school, building it from scratch with <spanclass="b keyword">Windows XP based clients, and <spanclass="b keyword">Debian GNU/Linux servers with <spanclass="b keyword">Squid proxy, an <spanclass="b keyword">Apache httpd web server, <spanclass="b keyword">Exim+<spanclass="b keyword">Courier IMAP based internal mailing and a <spanclass="b keyword">Samba file server. Meanwhile, I have created the school’s first <spanclass="b keyword"title="web development">web page using <spanclass="b keyword">Perl CGI, and later it’s replacement in <spanclass="b keyword">PHP. Although I did that as a student, I consider it my first job. You can contact <spanclass="b">Imre Pataki at +36 (20) 970-5830 if you need more information.

My first contract was made in <spanclass="b">2002 with <spanclass="b">GaTeS Group Kft., a Budapest based <spanclass="b">ISP that served Internet connection to a large warren. I have mastered Linux based <spanclass="b keyword"title="firewalls">firewalling and routing there using <spanclass="b keyword noupper">iptables, and <spanclass="b keyword"title="QoS">tc for QoS. I have also created a <spanclass="b">web page for the company using <spanclass="b keyword">PHP and <spanclass="b keyword"title="MySQL database development">MySQL. The company went through several merges since then. My only contact was Ákos Szabó, whose phone number is not reachable any more.

After that, I contracted with <spanclass="b">Webvilág Kft. in <spanclass="b">2004. It was a <spanclass="b">web development company, where I was in the role of both a <spanclass="b keyword"title="web development">web developer and a <spanclass="b keyword"title="Systems administration">systems administrator. I have mastered <spanclass="b keyword">PHP there, together with <spanclass="b keyword">MySQL administration. I also built a small <spanclass="b keyword"title="routers">router/<spanclass="b keyword"title="firewalls">firewall out of a PC for office needs. Althogh the company has changed its name to Fejlesztők Háza Kft., you may still contact <spanclass="b">Péter Bali at +36 (70) 318-4050.

My next job came in <spanclass="b">2006, when I contracted with <spanclass="b">eWorldCom Kft., a small <spanclass="b">VoIP company, developing call center software based on <spanclass="b keyword">Asterisk. My job was to create a small base system for this software, while managing the old, Ubuntu based ones. For the new version, we targeted <spanclass="b keyword">Gentoo Linux because of its possible small size, and performance reasons. The company since then fusioned with Virtual Call Center Kft. You may reach my ex-bosses (Tamás Jalsovszky and Szabolcs Tóth) there, altough I don’t know any of their new contacts.

The job that followed was with <spanclass="b">Lufthansa Systems Hungary in <spanclass="b">2007, where I became the member of a large team supporting and administering several thousand servers, mostly based on <spanclass="b keyword">Red Hat Enterprise Linux and <spanclass="b keyword">SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. There I mastered cluster technologies (<spanclass="b keyword">Heartbeat 2 and <spanclass="b keyword">Red Hat Cluster), <spanclass="b keyword">SAN, <spanclass="b keyword noupper">iSCSI and <spanclass="b keyword">NFS based storages, <spanclass="b keyword">Apache httpd and <spanclass="b keyword">Tomcat web servers, administration of <spanclass="b keyword"title="MySQL administration">MySQL and <spanclass="b keyword"title="Oracle 10g Database Administration">Oracle 10g Databases, <spanclass="b keyword">Bacula based backup, <spanclass="b keyword">Windows 2003 Server and <spanclass="b keyword">Windows Server 2008 (both standalone and cluster) with <spanclass="b keyword">Active Directory, <spanclass="b keyword">Group Policy, <spanclass="b keyword">Microsoft Exchange Server 2005 and <spanclass="b keyword">Microsoft SQL Server 2005, <spanclass="b keyword">Xen Open Source virtualization, <spanclass="b keyword">Citrix XenServer and <spanclass="b keyword"title="Citrix XenApp">XenApp, <spanclass="b keyword">VMware ESXi and <spanclass="b keyword"title="VMware vSphere">vSphere, <spanclass="b keyword">Nagios monitoring (and <spanclass="b keyword">monitoring in general), and last, but not least, <spanclass="b keyword">Linux hardening (<spanclass="b keyword">SELinux, firewalls of different kinds, fighting <spanclass="b keyword">application security issues). My boss was <spanclass="b">László Kiss-Kalló, who can be reached on +36 (30) 429-9483.

All this knowledge came in very handy, when I went to <spanclass="b">Brokernet Group Zrt. in <spanclass="b">2010. The IT infrastructure was in a very bad shape there, and our job was to rebuild most of it from scratch.
Since I left the company in <spanclass="b">2013, I am working as a <spanclass="b">freelancer deloper and a <spanclass="b">systems engeneer for a <spanclass="b">startup network monitoring company. Here we are building a help desk system using open source products like <spanclass="b keyword">OTRS::ITSM, <spanclass="b keyword">OpenLDAP, and <spanclass="b keyword">Zabbix.

In my <spanclass="b">free time, I wander in forests, take pictures, and sometimes manipulate them with the <spanclass="b keyword">GIMP. Sometimes I write short fantasy or sci-fi novels using <spanclass="b keyword">LibreOffice. I am also developing some software in <spanclass="b keyword">C. When I’m not in the mood for writing, I go and check out the news on several technical areas, mostly IT and engineering, or give a try to a new programming language in the name of “why not?”. Currently I’m experimenting with Python.

Although I don’t plan to change my workplace right now, when I do so, I look for firms that can develop my skills and give me financial stability through an interesting job.
